PENINSULA PROPAGANDA - 11 DAYS TILL THE 8TH EDITION

If you'll open the official festival page you can read what these guys have in store for the Romanian audience this year, but Peninsula is more than just facts. It's true, they're gonna have over 70 artists performing in 4 days! this way covering a variety of genres, so no one gets to complain. Besides the big bands that are attending, the charm of this particular festival is that you're making new musical discoveries every day, finding gorgeous bands that you've never heard of before.

Peninsula promises to be a true festival experience for its visitors with shows held in 4 musical locations, film projections from Transylvania International Film Festival, a variety of sports competitions & extreme sports.

What I consider to be the peak of the whole 4 days, is being able to witness a DUB FX street performance in the center of Targu Mures. Besides that, Dub Fx, Flower Fairy and Mr Woodnote will have a live show in the festival camp on August 29th at Kiss Terrace.

The line-up gathers big names like Korn, Gorillaz Sound System, The Rasmus, Nero, Parov Stelar Band, Noisia, Babylon Circus, Above and Beyond, Sub Focus, Tricky, N.O.H.A, Theraphy and Europe, chilling the thirst for dance and music.

Romanian music was not left aside, therefore legendary rock band Phoenix, psychedelic band Tunderground, the funk-jazzy band Blazzaj, the electro crowd-rocking Suie Paparude, Kumm with their soon legendary sax player Iordache, Butterflies in my stomach and Gojira will hit the public with a mixture of sounds and rhythms.

Anim'est 2009

Anim'est, 2-11 octombrie, editia IV.

Singurul festival de film de animaţie din Bucureşti şi cel mai important din România, Anim’est contabilizează, pentru primele trei ediţii, 900 de filme proiectate şi peste 18.000 de spectatori. Consacrat pe plan internaţional, evenimentul a avut ca invitaţi mari nume ale animaţiei mondiale, precum John R Dilworth şi Bill Plympton (nominalizaţi la Premiul Oscar), Hayo Freitag sau Juan Pablo Zaramella şi a prezentat cele mai importante filme de animaţie premiate la Cannes, Annecy, Animadrid sau Animateka.

Pentru că odată cu dezvoltarea festivalului s-a observat creşterea interesului pentru animaţie atât din partea publicului, cât şi din partea profesioniştilor, Anim’est vă aşteapă în perioada 2 - 11 octombrie, la cea de-a patra ediţie, cu o ofertă şi mai generoasă. Pentru prima dată festivalul îşi aşteaptă publicul în patru locaţii: Cinematografele Patria, Union, Elvira Popescu şi Terasa Verona (Librăria Cărtureşti). Şi tot pentru prima dată, în cadrul Anim’est are loc Creepy Animation Night, o întreagă noapte dedicată filmelor de animaţie şi muzicii, reunite într-un show mixat de Pakito (Franţa).

Dintre cele peste 600 filme primite pentru selecţie (s-au primit, în premieră, filme din Malaezia, Chile, Peru, Columbia, Madagascar, Mozambic), au fost alese pentru competiţie 199, grupate în şase secţiuni: lung-metraj, scurt-metraj, film românesc, film studenţesc, videoclip & advertising şi, balkanimation, transformat în acest an din show-case, în concurs.
Ţara prezentată în acest an la Anim’est este Japonia, iar evenimentul central al acestei prezentări este Retrospectiva Hayao Miyazaki. Cunoscut pentru Spirited Away, pentru care a primit Oscarul în 2003, şi Howl’s Moving Castle, pentru care a fost nominalizat din nou în 2006, Hayao Miyazaki este considerat unul dintre cei mai mari animatori din toate timpurile.

Întâlniri cu Mike Reiss (SUA), scenarist al filmelor Simpsons Family şi Ice age 4, Guilaine Bergeret (Franţa), reprezentant al SacreBleu production, un cunoscut producător şi distribuitor de scurt-metraje şi Marie Anne Fontainer (Franţa), decan al facultăţii Supinforcom, una dintre cele mai mari şcoli de animaţie din lume, sunt trei dintre evenimentele Anim’est care nu trebuiesc ratate. Georges Schwitzgebel (Elveţia), un clasic al animaţiei premiat la Cannes, Berlin, Annecy este invitatul special al acestei ediţii Anim’est.

Semantics won't do

Nouvelle Vague, easy to love mainstream tribute cover band. They seem to really love that kind of music, and they don't show it by wearing mohawks, but by making three records. To make it their music somehow. Music from that era was blamed by uptight British media in the 70's and 80's and was hailed by very young middle class people because it spoke the truth.
My favorite songs are In a matter or speaking and Master and Servant, both originally by Depeche Mode. Also, I can't help not to keep listening All my colors (Echo and the Bunnymen), the Bauhaus and the Clash covers. And there's also the DEAD KENNEDYS cover, the Cure cover and the Sex Pistols cover. And the... I'll stop now...

Big Bang-ul, acum cate miliarde de ani? Si ce a rezultat? Acum sunt sase miliarde de oameni pe planeta. 60000 adunati pentru un concert. Romani. Trebuie sa existe un motiv. Doar pentru 4 oameni? Si ce daca ii cheama Mick, Keith, Ron, Charlie. Nu sunt singurii. Aaa, stiu sa cante?

Muzica pe care o recunosti, chiar daca nu ai ascultat-o niciodata, o stii pentru ca ti se potriveste. O auzi o data, de doua ori, apoi devii dependent. Se misca ceva. Sunete, multe, fara nicio logica, dar care adunate, transmit ceva. Si din ritmul ala faci parte si tu.

Urmeaza "a bigger bang". Vrei sa vezi ce se intampla. Poate fara prea multe asteptari. Apoi descoperi ca de la ei a inceput totul. Treci intr-o alta stare. Uiti. Doar asculti. Esti acolo.
Muzica ce vorbeste despre stari, momente, experiente. Trecute si viitoare. Subconstiente, reale. Muzica ce schimba, vindeca, prin care te descoperi sau te reinventezi.
Acum totul e foarte clar. Acum stii de ce.
Asa s-a intamplat si pentru mine.

Cand ai o zi proasta, in cazul meu o saptamana, si ti se intampla sa ai o zi cum am avut eu sambata (adica ieri... exista viata si dupa orele de fizica!), pana la urma te consideri un om norocos. Dupa concertul Tapinarii am aflat ca Alifantis s-a imbolnavit si canta Andries in locul lui la gala de folk. Couldn't have been better (mai putin pentru Alifantis, ce sa spun...), caci eu nu-l vazusem/auzisem live. Prin urmare, eu concert Andries la Festul de Folk, eu autograf de la Andries pe poza mea cu Bob Dylan, eu mers pe jos pana acasa. Pacat ca nu ati fost acolo. A fost deosebit.
